SmartBridge & SmartStairs: Elevated Temporary Bridge System
SafeSmart SmartBridge is designed for major construction sites where temporary access needs to keep pace with the programme.Â
Large projects often require temporary bridges between work areas, over internal roads or across active construction zones. The access system needs to support site movement without creating additional installation delays.Â
Engineering before installationÂ
SmartBridge planning starts with SafeSmart’s in-house engineering team.Â
Site-specific layouts and Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings help project teams understand the proposed access arrangement before installation begins. This supports clearer coordination between the bridge, surrounding structures and the wider construction methodology.Â
Early design also helps reduce site errors and installation bottlenecks. The bridge is planned around the project rather than assembled as a generic temporary structure.Â
Â
Pre-assembled for site deliveryÂ
SmartBridge uses modular steel boxes that are pre-assembled off-site under controlled conditions.Â
More of the preparation is completed before the equipment reaches site. This reduces the amount of assembly required in a live construction area and limits the disruption associated with building temporary access from loose scaffold components.Â
Pre-assembly can also reduce reliance on hired access equipment, helping project teams avoid delays caused by equipment availability and extended hire periods.Â
Crane-liftable access spansÂ
SmartBridge spans are crane-liftable, allowing the bridge to be positioned as part of a planned installation sequence.Â
For suitable site conditions and an approved methodology, up to 22 m of SmartBridge can be installed in a single day. This gives project teams a faster way to establish access between work areas while keeping the installation process controlled.Â
SmartBridge can also integrate with SmartStairs to create a continuous access route between different levels. The system supports projects that need both a bridge and stair access as part of the same temporary works plan.Â
Protection for the work belowÂ
SmartBridge modules are rated to 2.5 kPa and can include roof protection and full mesh encapsulation.Â
These features help protect the area below the bridge and contain the access route within the wider site environment. The final configuration should be confirmed against the project requirements, design conditions and engineering documentation.Â
Built for complex sitesÂ
SmartBridge gives construction teams a pre-planned access system that can be designed, prepared and installed around the needs of the project.Â
The result is a defined route between work areas, less on-site assembly and a clearer installation process for the crew.Â
